As of January 5th, we are officially living in a Mercury Retrograde. Astrology aficionados know all about Mercury Retrograde. There is even merchandise online about it! So what is it exactly and how does one survive it? First, you must educate yourself on what Mercury Retrograde actually is and how it works.
Each planet influences us astrologically. Retrogrades are indicative of a time when a planet is resting. When that planet is resting, we start to feel that missing energy. Mercury is the closet planet situated next to the Sun and speeds past Earth 3-4 times a year. As Mercury speeds by, it disrupts what it rules. What does Mercury rule you say? Life. Just kidding! Mercury does rule some pretty important facets of life like communication (email, talk, text, etc.), formal contracts (job offers, lease agreements, mortgages), technology (your iphone, Macbook Pro, your car and everything else under the sun!) and trade and commerce (think stocks, bonds, mutual funds, e-commerce) just to name a few.
So from now until January 25th, just think of Mercury being in airplane mode. Here's how you can survive a sleepy Mercury until then:
Do not buy new electronics or anything new and expensive for that matter during the Retrograde. That designer handbag may go on sale and you won't be able to get a price adjustment. Your new iPhone 6 plus may not function well, sending you to the Apple Store (oh, hell no!). Just know that I accidentally stepped on and cracked my husband's Macbook laptop display during Mercury Retrograde -- be careful guys! You also should not by any means go under the knife or drastically change your hair -- you could really look a hot mess and that's not how you start a new year! And for the love of Susan Miller please do not wed or start a new job during this period!
Don't Let Your Emails/Texts Speak For You
Communication will be off during this period. Someone may misread your email and schedule a meeting on the wrong day or misinterpret your text and want to fight you because they don't know what you're really saying! Take your time -- cross your t's and dot your i's. Pick up the phone to clarify a situation or to share your thoughts with a friend so they won't have your intentions misconstrued.
The Past Is Present
One of the upsides to Mercury Retrograde is the ability to connect with the past. When Mercury is retrograde, you are free to travel to places that you've visited before, connect with old pals or work on projects that you have started in the past. This energy can give you the opportunity to mend a broken relationship or breathe new life into an old project that you're passionate about again. Don't be surprised if you get a "Heyyyyy," text from your old boo or the opportunity to finally present a business plan to investors that you drafted years ago.
You may become a lot more forgetful and careless during Mercury's retrograde. Double check to make sure that you have your house keys or that you haven't left your wallet at that new restaurant that you tried out. You may not remember your new co-workers name or your cousin's birthday. No worries! Double check everything and take a few minutes to plug in important dates and appointments into your calendar.
So you can survive Mercury retrograde if you're on point and know to expect the unexpected. To keep you on point, I am sharing ALL of 2016's Mercury retrograde's with you below so you can plan accordingly:
